Executive Chef

About This Role

This Executive Chef role at a family-oriented golf club in Wayne, PA, seeks a talented culinary professional who is also a strong leader and effective department head. The successful candidate will balance culinary creativity with member preferences, focusing on improving consistency in a la carte execution and elevating menu variety. The position requires someone organized, accountable, collaborative, and genuinely interested in becoming part of the club's community.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the culinary department
• Ensure strong a la carte culinary execution
• Develop and engineer menus
• Execute banquet and special events
• Manage food and labor costs
• Implement purchasing and inventory controls
• Maintain kitchen organization and sanitation
• Handle scheduling and staffing
• Recruit, train, and develop culinary employees
• Communicate effectively with front-of-house leadership
• Manage multiple dining experiences and events simultaneously
• Use financial and operating information to manage the department and make informed decisions
• Develop the culinary team and establish accountability and standards
• Work collaboratively with the front-of-house operation
• Meet deadlines related to menu planning, event execution, weekly features, and operational deliverables
• Develop and manage the annual culinary operating and capital budgets
• Develop departmental assumptions and needs related to food cost, culinary labor, operating expenses, equipment, and capital requirements in collaboration with the General Manager/COO and Controller
• Review financial performance, understand variances to budget, and take appropriate action while maintaining quality and service standards
• Create house-made items, creative buffet presentations, and evolving menus appropriate for a private club environment
• Be visible at events and in the dining room
• Respond to email questions/feedback from members and be actively engaged

Requirements

• Current or previous experience working in a private, members-owned club or luxury, multi-unit hotel/resort operation (level of Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons)
• Exceptional management and administrative skills with the ability to communicate effectively with staff and the department head team
• Highly organized
• Passionate about all aspects of the culinary profession
• Committed to staying current with food trends, techniques, and equipment
