Estimator - Plumbing

About This Role

Assisting with preliminary budgets, conceptual estimates, and detailed estimates for smaller, less complex plumbing projects is the core of this Estimator I role. The position involves analyzing drawings, performing material take-offs, and providing unit cost pricing.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preliminary budgets, conceptual estimates, and detail estimates generally for smaller, less complex projects with experience in specific trade
• Assist with analysis of drawings and use applicable software to perform material take-offs for detailed estimates and provide unit cost pricing
• Assist with developing project updates and bid package estimate documents' comparison
• Track and adjust quantities as needed
• Assist with resolving discrepancies
• Assist with researching and compiling historical cost data and keep database current for use in future estimate preparation
• Maintain file of working project documents for back-up to estimating figures
• Respond to basic questions from internal managers

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred, or trade school or equivalent combination of technical training and or related experience
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Good analytical skills
• Basic ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems
• Basic ability to read and understand specifications and drawings
• General knowledge of construction costs and principles
• Basic ability to perform mathematical calculations and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and prorations to practical situations
• Basic drafting skills
• Competent Excel and Word skills
