Estimator - Heavy Civil Construction
Location: New York
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation Base Salary: $100,000 - $130,000
Performance-based bonus and comprehensive benefits package
Role Overview A well-established infrastructure contractor is seeking an Estimator to support preconstruction efforts across a diverse portfolio of projects. This role involves estimating work across underground utilities, heavy civil, trenchless rehabilitation, roadway and structural work, and select energy-related projects.
This is a strong opportunity for someone with a construction or field background who is looking to grow within a structured estimating team and work on technically challenging projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop estimates from initial review through final submission
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Perform quantity take-offs and assist in building cost models
- Develop means and methods aligned with site conditions
- Solicit and review subcontractor and supplier pricing
- Support preparation of detailed cost breakdowns and work scopes
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and internal reviews
- Assist in bid preparation, documentation, and submission
Qualifications
- 5-15 years of experience in construction or field operations, ideally with exposure to estimating
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
- Strong understanding of construction processes, means, and methods
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents
- Comfortable with quantity-based work and basic cost analysis
Technical Skills
- Experience with takeoff and estimating tools (Bluebeam, AGTEK, or similar preferred)
- Familiarity with scheduling tools (Primavera or MS Project) is a plus
- Strong Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office
