About the role

Position Summary/Overview

The Unity Center is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Program Assistant to support the First-Generation Programs, specifically the Epsilon Sigma Chapter of Alpha Alpha Alpha (Tri-Alpha), the national honor society for first-generation college students. This role is key to sustaining a vibrant chapter by supporting programming, membership engagement, and the recognition of first-generation student achievement. This position plays a critical role in celebrating and advancing the success of first-generation students. By supporting Tri-Alpha initiatives, the Special Project Coordinator helps foster a sense of recognition, belonging, and community, ensuring that first-generation students are seen, supported, and connected.

Position Title: ES-Tri Alpha Program Assistant
Department: Unity Center
Program: First-Generation Program
Hiring Manager: Cliff-Simon Vital
Term of Employment: Full Academic Year (Fall and Spring Semesters)

Tri Alpha Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and executing Tri-Alpha induction ceremonies, including logistics, communication, and event support
  • Support outreach and marketing efforts to promote Tri-Alpha and increase visibility across campus
  • Coordinate and help facilitate monthly social and/or educational workshops that support first-generation student success
  • Maintain and regularly update a comprehensive database of inducted members
  • Support the identification, invitation, and onboarding of new eligible students for induction
  • Collaborate with Unity Center staff and campus partners to strengthen programming and engagement
  • Help document events and track participation to support program assessment

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills
  • Attention to detail, especially with tracking data and member records
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
  • Reliability, professionalism, and accountability
  • Interest in supporting first-generation college student success

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)

  • Experience with event planning or program coordination
  • Familiarity with first-generation student experiences or involvement in related organizations
  • Experience with basic marketing or social media promotion
