Duties
The successful selectee will perform the following duties:
- Interpret specialized handling and storage instructions for ammunition and explosives to verify safety and regulatory ordnance procedures are followed.
- Manage the proper storage and handling of Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives based on the nature, characteristic, hazard and risk of ammunition and explosives to minimize the potential for causing mishaps.
- Execute test procedures to evaluate ammunition operability or performance.
- Disseminate explosive safety information (e.g., Safety Alerts, Notice of Ammunition Reclassifications, Safety of Use Memorandums, or similar information) necessary for force protection and to supplement the explosives safety training and education program.
- Repair and recondition ammunition containers and cartridge cases in accordance with oral or written instructions.
- Examine ordnance material (e.g., ammunition, explosives, chemical munitions, fuels, missiles, hazardous material, inert material) to identify potential defects.
Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: duties associated with ammunition loading procedures, hand load ammunition, inspection of ammunition and providing instruction and training to personnel. Develop, collect analyze, evaluate, and interpret the full range of technical ammunition data, specifications, schematics, engineering drawings, test reports, manufacturer catalogs, in order to develop technical decisions and recommendations. OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related.
