Equipment Mechanic

About This Role

This equipment mechanic role involves maintaining an expansive fleet of vehicles to support the company's environmental services. You will prioritize work orders, diagnose equipment issues, and troubleshoot independently in a fast-paced setting. The position suits a creative and independent problem-solver with heavy equipment experience who is eager to learn and grow.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and diagnose equipment malfunctions and failures
• Complete Federal DOT inspections on commercial vehicles
• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and major and minor repairs on a variety of equipment, including occasional welding and fabrication
• Execute repairs on gas and diesel engines, transmissions, electrical and electronic systems, brakes, hydraulic systems, suspensions, steering systems, and fuel systems

Requirements

• Positive and motivated self-starter
• Curious and independent problem-solver
• Eager to learn and grow with the company
• Experienced with heavy equipment (minimum one year preferred)
• Experienced working in a shop environment for at least two years
• Proficient in using computer systems and applications to accomplish daily tasks
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to frequently bend, kneel, climb, and work at heights
• Ability to stand and move for extended periods while operating vehicles across varied terrain
• Ability to perceive auditory safety signals, verbal warnings, and radio communications in active work environments
• Ability to wear all required PPE, including OSHA-compliant respirators, hearing protection, eye protection, gloves, and safety footwear
