Equipment Mechanic

About This Role

Maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of construction machinery is the core focus of this role, which suits a candidate with strong mechanical aptitude. This position offers a flexible, fun, and friendly work environment within a local, family-owned business.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair a wide range of heavy equipment including excavators, telehandlers, aerial work platforms, and other construction machinery
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, tire and track services, and hydraulic system checks to prevent breakdowns
• Troubleshoot electrical systems, hydraulics, transmissions, and engine issues using schematics and diagnostic tools
• Test repaired equipment through heavy lifting and operational checks to confirm proper functioning before returning it to service
• Maintain detailed service records, logs, and reports using easy-to-use software for all repairs and maintenance activities in compliance with safety standards

Requirements

• Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems a plus
• Skilled in using mechanic's tools, power tools, and schematics reading
• Ability to troubleshoot complex issues related to hydraulics, electrical, and diesel engines
• Familiarity with brands such as Caterpillar, Genie, Skyjack and Kubota a plus
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to team members or clients
• Physical ability for heavy lifting and performing manual tasks in various weather conditions; safety-conscious mindset is essential
