Environmental Scientist

About This Role

An Environmental Scientist with 3-6 years of experience is sought to join a multi-disciplinary team that solves complex issues for clients within the Remediation Program Management (RPM) team. This role involves significant fieldwork across Western and Northern Canada, applying technical, client delivery, and project delivery skills to high-profile environmental projects.

Responsibilities

• Be part of a Canadian-based firm, applying and expanding your technical, client delivery and project delivery skills
• Design a place where people, friends, families and neighbours can thrive
• Maintain a work-life balance, logging in remotely or attending the office in a hybrid work solution of 3 days a week in the office
• Clearly identify and understand project objectives, bringing your ideas and solutions to your project manager, project directors, mentors and developing well understood specific work instructions and health and safety plans
• Develop your career by having several different mentors to plan, adjust and grow your career at WSP
• Support the development and improvement of project health and safety plans, guided by the Zero Harm policy and rigorous Health, Safety and Environment standards
• Participate and be a member of a 10-20 person client-specific delivery team, while at the same time leveraging the experience and expertise of the entire RPM group
• Engage with a Practice Area Network (PAN) for complex technical issues
• Apply your love for the outdoors and complete fieldwork assignments centered around the Alberta foothills, and at locations within Western/Northern Canada (up to 50%)
• Gain the experience to plan, lead or work on some of the most interesting and technically challenging environmental projects in Western and Northern Canada

Requirements

• Love for the outdoors, and understanding that office work is also part of the job (up to 50%)
• Desire to see and explore different parts of Western and Northern Canada
• Experience as a leader of class projects
• Excellent communication skills and experience coordinating activities
• Bachelor’s degree
• 3 to 6 years experience in the environmental industry
