About the role

Key Job Responsibilities

Compliance & Legal Requirements

  • Ensure compliance with statutory safety and environmental regulations, including:
    • Fire NOC, Building plan approval, Building stability certificate.
    • PCB-related requirements: Consent to Establish (CTE), Consent to Operate (CTO), ETP & STP compliance, Hazardous/Bio-Medical waste authorization, Annual returns, and Manifest tracking.
    • Reply to PCB notices, inspection reports, and ensure timely renewals of approvals.
  • Maintain records and documentation as per statutory formats (Form-3, 4, 5, 8, 10, 27, 40).

ISO & Management Systems

  • Implement and maintain ISO 45001 (OHSMS) and ISO 14001 (EMS) standards.
  • Conduct internal audits, support external audits, and ensure closure of non-conformities.
  • Support green building initiatives and sustainability goals with IGBC knowledge.

Safety Management

  • Conduct risk assessments and prepare Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA).
  • Implement Aspect Impact Analysis (AIA) for environmental management.
  • Ensure safe work practices through work permit systems for high-risk jobs.
  • Conduct incident/accident investigations and drive corrective & preventive actions.

Training & Awareness

  • Conduct induction training for all new employees and contractors.
  • Organize regular toolbox talks, safety awareness programs, and refresher trainings.
  • Lead emergency preparedness activities including mock drills for fire and other emergencies.
  • Prepare and update safety training materials for employees at all levels.

Emergency & Fire Safety

  • Ensure periodic testing, maintenance, and readiness of firefighting equipment (extinguishers, hydrants, sprinklers, alarms).
  • Conduct fire safety training programs for Emergency Response Team (ERT).
  • Ensure compliance with fire prevention measures and Fire NOC conditions.

Environmental Management

  • Monitor effluent treatment plant (ETP) and sewage treatment plant (STP) operations to ensure compliance with PCB norms.
  • Facilitate periodic environmental monitoring through NABL-certified labs.
  • Promote energy conservation, waste reduction, and sustainable practices in line with ISO & IGBC.

Reporting & Coordination

  • Respond to PCB, Factory Inspector, and other regulatory inspection notices.
  • Prepare reports on EHS performance for management review.
  • Conduct safety committee meetings with equal representation from management and employees.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: BE / Diploma Mechanical
  • Certifications (preferred): RLI, CLI, IIISM & Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Industrial Safety.
  • 3-5 years of experience in safety management within manufacturing/industrial setup.
  • Strong knowledge of EHS legislation, PCB requirements, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 standards.
  • Familiarity with IGBC green building guidelines.
  • Good communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Kannada and Hindi are mandatory.
