About the role
Support environmental compliance activities associated with construction phase of the Unit 22 Turnaround. Working under the direction of the Project Environmental Manager you will assist with implementing environmental requirements established by federal, state, and local regulations, project permits, and internal corporate standards. The successful candidate will gain practical, field-based experience while contributing to the safe and compliant execution of major construction activities.

Assist project teams in identifying, addressing, and documenting environmental compliance issues.

Support the implementation, maintenance, and periodic updating of the Site Environmental Management Plans (SPCC, SWPPP, E&SC Plans, Waste Management Plans, etc.).

Conduct daily field inspections and prepare clear, accurate reports or logs of environmental conditions and observations.

Assist with environmental permit management, including understanding permit requirements and supporting compliance activities.

Help coordinate corrective actions to resolve compliance deficiencies and track follow-up activities.

Participate in spill response efforts, including documentation and mitigation under supervision.

Assist with environmental orientation and training for project personnel to reinforce environmental responsibilities and site expectations.

Support Project Management in monitoring subcontractor adherence to environmental commitments and contract requirements.

Provide assistance in managing various waste streams that include coordinating storage, handling, and disposal activities consistent with regulatory standards and site procedures.

Help oversee petroleum storage and handling practices, including fuel tanks, drums, containers, lubricants, and petroleum by-products.

Support wildlife and endangered species protection measures as required by project plans or permits.

Assist with reviewing material storage records and supporting safe use of flammable storage cabinets and similar equipment.

Work primarily outdoors, approximately 60–75% of the time, in a dynamic construction environment.

Perform other duties as assigned in support of project or corporate environmental initiatives.

High School Diploma or GED required, some college coursework or a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Natural Resources, or a related technical field preferred.

Personable, professional, and able to communicate effectively with craft workers, subcontractors, and project management.

Self-motivated, able to take initiative, and comfortable working with minimal supervision in a fast-paced field setting.

Foundational understanding of environmental compliance topics such as stormwater BMPs, spill prevention and response, surface waters and wetlands protection, waste management, and fuel storage.

Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, KMZ files and other standard software tools.

Willingness to gain or learn technical writing skills associated with maintaining Environmental Plans and Procedures

Willingness to work outdoors in various weather and above-ground surface conditions.
