Entertainment Technician

About This Role

This seasonal position at Busch Gardens involves supporting all entertainment shows and events, from installation to operation and strike. The role suits a dedicated and dependable individual with a background in theatrical environments who can deliver exceptional guest service.

Responsibilities

• Consistently perform all assignments and responsibilities for an Entertainment technician, including warehouse and event prep, stagehand, spotlight operator, light board operator, and audio operator
• Assist with special effects, puppets, and costume dressing changes
• Assist with the install, operation, and strike of all Entertainment shows and events
• Provide theatrical support assistance to outside vendors and contractors
• Perform scene shifts and prop changes
• Consistently perform as a show technician and warehouse technician
• Perform daily operational duties including covering open positions, communicating show and schedule changes, and sharing information with co-workers and management
• Troubleshoot needed maintenance and make minor repairs on scenic elements, sound systems, lighting systems, lighting fixtures, or other technical components
• Maintain quality standards through assigned tasks, special events, and show positions
• Demonstrate strong communication skills, respect for others, a positive attitude, teamwork, and professionalism
• Be willing to increase personal development and positively influence employees and vendors/contractors
• Maintain Park cleanliness, maintenance, and safety standards through all assigned tasks
• Provide technical support and service for all departmental needs
• Perform other functions as directed by management for the good of the Department and Park

Requirements

• Must submit a resume to be considered for this position
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to be trained to operate vans, trucks (non-CDL), and lifts
• A minimum of 2 years general experience in a theatrical environment as a technician
• Knowledge of technical theater, including but not limited to: theatrical rigging, theater safety, audio and lighting systems, special effects, video, theatrical scenery and drapery, set decorating, scenic and prop construction, maintenance, and repair
• Timeline of general experience must be detailed on resume to be considered for this position
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule with no set days off including early mornings/days/evenings/late nights/overnights/weekends/holidays
• Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
• Hands-on capability to operate technical equipment and troubleshoot technical problems
• Must be able to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods up to four hours, several times per-shift
• Ability to stand, bend, or kneel for long periods of time
• Ability to bend, reach, twist, and turn with complete flexibility
• Position requires lifting/pushing/pulling a minimum of 50 pounds several times throughout a scheduled shift, including overhead lifting
• Must be able to climb 60 stairs multiple times per day or a ladder up to 40ft
• Must be able to work in an environment with atmospheric effects (fog, smoke, haze, mist, bubble, snow, scents, etc.)
• Must be able to operate mechanical equipment including handheld power devices and table-mounted power tools
• Must be able to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions including bright, dark or tight locations, wet, cold, high humidity, or extreme heat environments
• Must be fit tested to wear a P95 or N95 respirator mask as needed, and be clean-shaven for the mask to properly seal to the face

Nice to have:

• College degree in Theatre or related discipline or equivalent related certification or documentation of experience
• Ability to work at a height of 80 feet is preferred
• Valid driver's license preferred
