Engineering Technician, Cell Engineering

About This Role

Supporting various engineering projects related to anode development and optimization for the integration of new active materials in Li-ion batteries is the core of this engineering technician role. The role involves performing experiments and operating tooling for battery electrode processing and powder characterization instruments. This position is a key member of a cross-functional product development team focused on fabricating R&D Li-ion anodes for high energy cells.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on tasks including powder mixing, operation of hot machinery, powder characterization and optimization, electrode fabrication, and data analysis for over 90% of the time
• Operate and maintain electrode processing tooling and lab equipment
• Work closely with engineers to execute experiments as instructed
• Record electrode processing information on tracking sheets
• Handle air-sensitive and hazardous materials in a glove box, dry room, or fume hood
• Prepare samples for characterization (SEM, titration, XRD, PSD, and more)
• Help keep the lab safe and efficient
• Report any issues related to processes and assist in problem solving

Requirements

• 2+ years experience working in a technical position in the battery field with experience in a laboratory setting
• Experience in battery electrode processing and fabrication
• Above average manual dexterity and visual acuity in order to perform careful electrode processes, optimization, and characterization
• Working knowledge of Windows and MS Office
• Ability and passion to perform hands-on tasks
• Ability to stand and work around high temperature tools
• Good communication skills
