About the role
Job Description:
The Communication Wireworker is a skilled electrical and communications infrastructure professional responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, certification, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical, structured cabling, fiber optic, and low-voltage communication systems. This position supports the design and operation of critical utility communications infrastructure within substations, service centers, control centers, data centers, offices, and field facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Running and installing copper and fiber optic cables
- Connecting and testing network and communication equipment
- Installing electrical components such as conduit, cable trays, grounding systems, and wiring.
- Reading blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to determine where equipment and cables should be installed.
- Troubleshooting communication or electrical problems when systems fail.
- Working in facilities such as substations, operations centers, service centers, data centers, and office buildings.
- Testing completed installations and documenting the results.
- Following safety procedures and electrical codes while working indoors and outdoors.
Required Qualifications:
- 5 years of electrical construction, telecommunications, structured cabling, or related field experience.
- Experience with both copper and fiber optic communications systems.
- Experience reading electrical and telecommunications drawings.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Technical school, apprenticeship, or vocational training required.
- Journeyman Electrician License (where required by state or local jurisdiction).
- BICSI Technician (TECH) Certification required.
- Valid Driver's License.
