About This Role

This role is for a leader within the teams working on railway systems and signalling projects, with responsibility for all engineering aspects of the project. The position will be the Contractor's Engineering Manager for the project, providing leadership to all discipline engineers and teams, and reports to the Project Manager/Director with line reporting into the Engineering Management Practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to and coordinate the efforts of the engineering teams
• Foster a high-performance culture through motivation, collaboration, and clear communication
• Set the safety and engineering culture for the project
• Understand contractual requirements and communicate them to the Engineering Team
• Act as the focal point for technical issues and coordinate between AtkinsRéalis, sub-contractors, and the client
• Address and resolve scope cost changes and schedule impact issues with the Project Manager
• Ensure achievement of safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives
• Develop and coordinate Engineering sub-contracts
• Lead inter-disciplinary communication, activities, and reviews
• Actively manage the engineering budget
• Contribute to project close-out activities and organisational learning
• Develop project engineers to grow professionally and deliver excellence, through mentoring, coaching, and leadership

Requirements

• Extensive UK railway project engineering experience
• Leadership experience
• Chartered Engineer
• Experience of undertaking CEM responsibilities on Network Rail infrastructure
• Understanding of risk management, CDM, and CSM

Nice to have:

• Holds applicable IRSE Licences
• Experience of introducing new equipment/systems onto the rail network
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders across multiple locations and disciplines
