Engineering Manager

About This Role

This senior engineering management role on the Applied Machine Learning team involves leading a team of software engineers to build tools and a platform that powers Apple's enterprise GenAI efforts. You will be responsible for the technical execution and delivery of the GenAI platform, encompassing distributed compute, storage, ingestion, and inference. The role involves working with software and machine learning engineers to build RAG and Agentic platform components.

Responsibilities

• Actively manage the performance of the team and drive its outcomes
• Build scalable GenAI platform and applications
• Ensure products meet Apple's standards for performance, reliability, scalability, privacy, and user experience
• Guide the development of APIs and frameworks for agentic workflows and/or complex multi-step ML systems
• Collaborate effectively with partner and product teams to set goals, expectations, and roadmaps
• Communicate technical details and roadmaps to diverse audiences, including engineering partners, product management teams, and executives across Apple

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience working on distributed systems
• 6+ years of experience in a management or leadership role
• Deep understanding of GenAI fundamentals
• Deep understanding of Java, C, C++, or similar programming languages
• Deep understanding of distributed systems like Flink, Spark, NoSQL, etc.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent

• Track record of leading teams and delivering complex AI projects from conception to production
• Strong communication skills
• Understanding of LLM inference and deployment
• Understanding of RAG and Agentic systems
• Past experience leading a scalable platform team
