Duties

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: 

·   Operates engineering equipment and construction equipment such as bulldozers, angledozers, motor graders, front end loaders, backhoes, trench diggers, etc. xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /

·   Operates equipment to push, pull, pile or load materials such as sand, gravel, earth, snow, or refuse.

·   Operates rates as an oil distributor and a portale hot-mix plant.

·   Service and perform minor repairs and adjustment equipment and related attachments.

·   May remove and replace accessory equipment such as lights, pump, belts, etc.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualifications System for Trades and Labor Occupations (X-118C, Qualification Standard Handbook) will be used in determining applicants’ qualifications.  There is no specific length of training or experience required; however, you must be able to demonstrate through the experience shown in your written resume and your responses to the Occupational Questionnaire that you possess the competencies to perform the duties of this position without more than normal supervision.  Listed below are the JOB ELEMENTS you will be rated on:xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /

·        ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF A ENGINEERING EQUIPMENT OPERATOR WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION (screen-out element).

·        WORK PRACTICES.

·        SAFE OPERATION OF CONSTRUCTION & MAINTENANCE EQUIPMENT AND MOTOR VEHICLES.

·        ABILITY TO INTERPRET INSTRUCTIONS AND SPECIFICATIONS PERTAINING TO EQUIPMENT BEING OPERATED.

BASIS OF RATING: The first job element is the screen-out element (Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision). Applicants who do not meet the minimum quality level of experience for this element will be rated ineligible and will receive no further consideration for this position.

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION**:** If you are using foreign education to meet qualification requirements, you must send a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with your transcript in order to receive credit for that education.

Qualifying education from colleges and universities in foreign countries must be evaluated in terms of equivalency to that acquired in U.S. colleges and universities. Applicants educated in whole or in part in foreign countries must submit sufficient evidence, including transcripts, to an accredited private organization for an equivalency evaluation of course work and degree. You must provide a copy of the letter containing the results of the equivalency evaluation upon request. Failure to provide such documentation when requested will result in lost consideration.
