About the role

Duties

Major Duties:

  • Performs work direction responsibilities: Serves as the working leader of eight or more Heavy Engineering Equipment Operators and Heavy Truck drivers in accomplishing trades and labor work in heavy horizontal maintenance and repair and in snow removal operations.

  • Operates one or more types of heavy equipment to excavate, backfill, grade, or level earth to rough specifications on such projects as breaking new ground for trails, roads, airfields, or other construction sites.

  • Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.

  • Uses and maintains tools and equipment. Performs maintenance, such as checking and replenishing fluids to proper levels, examining and changing filters, lubricating equipment, and making necessary adjustments.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

However, you must be able to demonstrate that you have the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities gained through training and/or experience to perform the duties described above. Applicants who meet the basic qualification requirements will be further evaluated according to the degree to which they possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities described in the Job Elements. Well Qualified:

A well qualified candidate will have experience with performing cutting, moving, digging, grading, and rolling earth, sand, stone, and other materials.

Licenses/Certifications:

This position requires a Class 2A hoisting license and a Commercial Class A Driver's license. You must submit both documents at the time of application.

Part-Time or Unpaid Experience:

Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Volunteer Work Experience:

Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
