About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Emulation Engineer to join our Silicon Design Verification team in Penang, Malaysia. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in hardware emulation, functional verification, and debugging within a complex SoC environment. This role involves working closely with design, verification, and software teams to accelerate pre-silicon validation and ensure high-quality silicon delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute emulation-based verification strategies for complex SoC/IP designs.
- Define verification test plans and create comprehensive test content to validate design functionality.
- Build, compile, and maintain emulation models on industry-standard emulation platforms such as Cadence Palladium and Synopsys ZeBu .
- Perform functional debugging using waveform analysis and root-cause investigation techniques.
- Collaborate with RTL designers, verification engineers, and software teams to identify and resolve design issues.
- Optimize emulation environments to improve performance, coverage, and validation efficiency.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python and other scripting languages/tools to streamline verification workflows.
- Support integration, bring-up, and execution of test suites on emulation platforms.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to verification methodology improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in the hardware emulation and verification domain.
- Hands-on experience with Palladium and/or ZeBu emulation platforms.
- Experience in emulation-based functional verification , including:
- Test plan development
- Test content creation
- Test execution and debugging
- Strong understanding of:
- Verilog HDL
- Emulation model compilation flows
- Waveform debugging and analysis
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python and Tcl/TOL.
- Basic understanding of AXI protocol and on-chip interconnect architectures.
- Working knowledge of SystemVerilog .
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within high-performance computing/CPU design ecosystem.
- Knowledge of PCIe protocol and related verification/debug methodologies.
- Exposure to UVM-based verification environments.
- Familiarity with SoC architecture, CPU/GPU subsystems, and high-speed interfaces.
- Experience with regression automation and verification infrastructure development.
