Employee Relations Manager

About This Role

This role involves designing and executing strategic initiatives to enhance team member engagement, performance, and efficiency across all business units. The manager will apply knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices to advise on complex team and labor relations issues, lead training initiatives, conduct internal investigations, and improve HR processes and policies.

Responsibilities

• Drive positive team member relations while ensuring compliance with company values
• Coordinate union-free initiatives, including avoidance actions and response to union activity
• Review employment practices, policies, and procedures for effectiveness and compliance; develop and implement recommendations for changes and improvements
• Lead and partner in the development and implementation of HR initiatives to improve leadership capabilities in employee performance management, conflict management, and employment compliance practices
• Design and deliver effective business solutions
• Serve as a Team Relations expert, providing counsel and guidance to HR and business leaders for complex and escalated issues such as policy interpretation, performance management, case management, disability management, job eliminations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions
• Lead the investigation and resolution of complaints of the highest complexity and sensitivity, ensuring investigations are objective and thorough
• Identify team and labor relations trends within business units and collaborate with HR, legal, and business leaders to identify necessary policy or process modifications and/or employee engagement initiatives
• Facilitate and lead various Team Relations trainings for HR generalist teams and business leaders in engagement, union-free strategy, case management, and positive team relations
• Effectively facilitate restructures, redeployments, and staffing within client groups
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders in corporate functions, HR COEs, and HR generalist teams to ensure HR strategies support business initiatives
• Perform other duties as assigned or required

Requirements

• Bachelor

’s degree in Human Resources or equivalent experience

• Master

’s or JD degree preferred

• 7-8 years or more of Employee Relations or Human Resources experience, including previous experience with union-free operations
• Strong Employee Relations/Team Relations background with HR operations/delivery (credible activist, operational executor)
• Experience leading/managing and implementing large-scale HR initiatives and project management
• Ability to work cross-functionally with all levels of leaders
• Organizational development and change management experience
• Experience conducting and managing complex/sensitive workplace complaints and investigations
• Ability to listen attentively and actively, take initiative, and work independently
• Strong planning, organizational, facilitation, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Ability to facilitate both small and large groups in a variety of forums including formal presentations, working meetings, and informal discussions
• Strong ability to design, gain alignment, and execute components of strategy with senior leaders
• Must possess a sense of urgency, take initiative, be a self-starter, be comfortable working independently, and be curious
• Willingness to take a position, show personal initiative, and persevere in the face of significant obstacles and challenges
• Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships and build a positive rapport with all partners

• Work format: Monday - Wednesday in office, Thursday - Friday remote
