Empire Innovation Associate/Full Professor, Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering and Regenerative Medicine (Tenure-Track/Tenured)

About This Role

This tenure-track position as a SUNY Empire Innovation Professor focuses on research and teaching in bioengineering and regenerative medicine, contributing to the Institute for Engineering-Driven Medicine. The role involves building an independent, externally funded research program and excelling in teaching and service. It suits a candidate with a strong research background in areas like cellular and tissue regeneration, nanomedicine, biomaterials, and novel diagnostic/therapeutic technologies.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain an independent, externally funded, leading-edge research program
• Excel at teaching
• Provide service in Biomedical Engineering
• Collaborate with faculty in the Renaissance School of Medicine (RSOM) and College of Engineering and Applied Sciences (CEAS)

Requirements

• Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) with relevant research training
• Demonstrated record of excellence in research
• Demonstrated academic credentials
• Demonstrated record of obtaining extramural funding

Nice to have:

• Relevant research training/experience
• Experience developing novel research, approaches, and technologies in regenerative medicine and/or bioengineering for translational medical applications
• Experience collaborating with clinical investigators and scientists across departments/institutions, such as the Stony Brook Cancer Center
• A demonstrated record of excellence in teaching/mentorship
