Watts & Associates is working discreetly with a highly regarded AM Law 100 law firm seeking a Emerging Companies Associate to join its Palo Alto, CA office.

The associate will advise emerging companies and investors across venture financings and a broader mix of corporate transactions. The position combines direct work with partners and clients, exposure to a wider corporate platform, and the opportunity to build a long-term emerging companies practice.

The Role

The successful attorney will support and lead key components of the practice, including:

  • Advise on venture capital financing transactions.
  • Support M&A, corporate governance and commercial matters.
  • Work directly with partners and company clients.
  • Assist with transaction execution and client communications.
  • Use cap-table and spreadsheet tools in support of corporate matters.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The firm is seeking a Emerging Companies Associate with:

  • 1–5 years of venture capital financing experience.
  • Additional experience in M&A, corporate governance, partnerships/LLCs or commercial transactions is relevant.
  • California bar admission or ability to become admitted in California.
  • Familiarity with cap-table platforms and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong quantitative and communication skills and top academic credentials.

Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $205,000–$275,000, depending on experience, qualifications and other relevant factors.
