Duties
As the Emergency Plans Officer you will perform the following duties:
- Prepare installation plans in support of continuity of operations, survival measures and disaster contingencies and develop emergency action plans and procedures.
- Perform research of regulations, program documents, circulars, LOI's, TDA's, etc. to ensure that plans reflect consistent application of operations and command doctrine, policies, and procedures.
- Serve as the USARPAC/IMCOM-PAC planning agent and member and recorder of the Joint Armed Services/State of Hawaii Civil Defense Coordinating Committee (JAS/SHCDCC) concerned with disaster preparedness and employment of military support during domestic emergency operations.
- Provide military planning, training assistance and guidance to state military forces and civil authorities in preparation of their plans.
- Maintain functional reference files of all Hazards Plans for use during emergency operations and for use during planning.
- Prepare and participate in joint exercises, preplanning, OPLAN/CONPLAN tests critiques and after-action reports for the Commander, USAG-HI and/or higher headquarters.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: preparing or assisting in the preparation of exercise scenarios for emergency exercises; AND developing and/or updating emergency response plans. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
