About the role
Duties
In this position you will rapidly deploy to assist State and Local Officials in managing large-scale, all hazards incidents.
When Deployed, typical assignments include:
- Implementing and managing Individual Assistance (IA) programs and the delivering FEMA programs to individuals and families affected by disasters. Coordinating services and resources under Emergency Support Function #6 of the National Response Framework in the areas of mass care/emergency assistance, housing, human services and voluntary agency coordination.
- Managing the Individual Assistance Branch to ensure a safe, secure and efficient operation; Determining appropriate organizational structure based on supervisor's direction and ensures structure and staffing are Incident Command System (ICS) compliant.
- Coordinating with the National Processing Servicing Center (NPSC) on disaster specific National Emergency Management Information System (NEMIS) set up to ensure timely Individuals and Households Program (IHP) startup and implementation, contractor pre-briefings, and referral information.
When not Deployed, typical assignments include:
- Participating in exercises at the national, regional and state level and all required training with states, territories and other federal agencies.
- Providing input for development of and participating in the execution and documentation of functions and plans affecting critical aspects of FEMA's mission, operation responses and programs.
- Providing basic instruction on disaster-related topics to regions, state and local authorities.
- Participating in the development of regional catastrophic planning for all-hazard responses.
- Assisting in the development of plans, goals, and objectives for new initiatives and programs.
- Evaluating and providing recommendations for improving the effectiveness of existing programs and activities.
