Emergency Department Lead – Licensed Veterinary Technician

Lead From the Floor. Support the Team. Elevate Patient Care

Puget Sound Veterinary Specialty & Emergency is seeking an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency Department as an ER Floor Lead.

Our mission is to deliver exceptional emergency and specialty veterinary care while creating a culture where our team can learn, grow, and support one another. As an ER Floor Lead, you'll help bring that mission to life by leading with compassion, inclusion, and accountability while supporting our commitment to gold standard patient care.

This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced emergency veterinary professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys developing others, and is always looking for opportunities to improve patient care and the team experience.

What You'll Do

As an Emergency Department Lead, you'll work alongside our clinical team while providing hands-on leadership and support throughout each shift.

  • Lead shift huddles and help the team navigate changing patient volume and hospital needs.
  • Provide real-time coaching, training, feedback, and support to LVTs and veterinary assistants.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and jump into patient care when needed.
  • Promote open communication and collaboration across departments.
  • Help troubleshoot staffing, workflow, and operational challenges while identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Support onboarding, continuous learning, quality improvement, and hospital initiatives.
  • Foster an inclusive environment where team members feel heard, valued, and supported.

  • Emergency veterinary experience required
  • 1+ year of previous lead or leadership experience
  • Proficiency in emergency triage and critical patient nursing
  • Strong emergency and critical care technical skills
  • Experience training, coaching, or mentoring team members
  • Strong communication, organization, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize patient care and team needs in a fast-paced ER environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specialty and/or 24-hour emergency hospital experience
  • RECOVER CPR certification
  • Experience coordinating ER patient flow or shift operations
  • VTS (ECC) credential or interest in pursuing advanced certification

Who Thrives Here?

We're looking for a leader who stays calm under pressure, leads with compassion and collaboration, and isn't afraid to jump in alongside their team. You'll thrive at PSVSE if you enjoy developing others, value different perspectives, welcome new ideas, and are committed to continuous learning and gold standard medicine.

You'll have the opportunity to make an impact beyond the patients you personally care for—helping develop your teammates, strengthen our Emergency Department, improve how we work together, and continue raising the standard of care we provide.

If you're an experienced emergency LVT who is ready to grow as a leader while staying connected to the clinical work you love, we'd love to meet you.
