About the role
Role Overview: The Emergency Department Charge Nurse (RN) leads patient care in an ED setting, coordinating activities on assigned shifts, and acting as a clinical resource for staff.
- Responsibilities: Develops and implements complex, individualized care plans in collaboration with the interprofessional team and patients’ families. Assesses patient data to proactively address changes in condition, bridges gaps in care from hospitalization to outpatient settings, and evaluates patient and family satisfaction to enhance quality. Promotes evidence-based practices, supports practice improvement initiatives, and participates in community health activities. Ensures safe, holistic, and patient-centered care while maintaining compliance with standards.
- Qualifications & Skills: Requires an RN license, with 2-5 years of relevant ED experience; a BSN degree and 5-10 years of experience are preferred. Demonstrates leadership, critical thinking, and excellent communication skills. Ability to work safely and effectively in a high-alert environment is essential.
Key Duties: Facilitate care transitions, lead care planning, champion evidence-based practice, evaluate care quality, and support team development. The role emphasizes clinical expertise, patient advocacy, and continuous improvement to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
