Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician

About This Role

This emergency veterinary technician role is for a credentialed professional who thrives on the front lines of emergency veterinary care, handling a wide range of cases from minor to complex. The role involves collaborating with doctors and the team to deliver gold-standard, emotionally intelligent care, and being a steady, compassionate presence for pet parents during stressful moments.

Responsibilities

• Treat every patient and person with care and importance
• Keep people and pets together, staying by their side through tests, treatments, and everything in between
• Deliver nursing care, treatments, and emotional support in critical moments, from triage to discharge
• Administer medications, monitor patients, and perform advanced procedures such as IVs, CRIs, and blood transfusions
• Communicate effectively as a teammate and think like a leader to help shape plans and ensure continuous care
• Perform CPR as a trained RECOVER professional (training is offered, and the company has a high number of RECOVER CPR professionals and instructors in the industry)
• Perform diagnostics and imaging, sample collection, and tube placement
• Administer anesthesia, even for fragile patients
• Utilize advanced techniques including central lines, endoscopy, and ultrasounds

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Associate's degree or higher in veterinary technology from an AVMA accredited program strongly preferred
• Credentialed as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state the VEG practice is located is required
• 1+ years of experience in a veterinary technician role
• Experience in emergency or specialty medicine preferred
• Basic computer skills and comprehension of practice management software and electronic medical record keeping
• Excellent communicator and calm under pressure
• Ready to lend a hand to support those around you
• Fine motor skills for handling patients and medical equipment
• Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and work on the floor

Nice to have:

• VTS in ECC, internal medicine or anesthesia/analgesia
