Job Summary
The staff and students at Masonic Heights, Violet, and Rodgers Elementary are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as an Elementary Recess/Lunchroom Monitor. This part-time position plays a vital role in ensuring a safe, engaging, and enjoyable environment for our students during recess and lunch periods. The ideal candidate will be attentive, proactive, and committed to promoting positive social interactions among students.
Responsibilities
- Supervise students during recess and lunch, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Encourage positive play and social interaction among students, promoting teamwork and conflict resolution.
- Monitor student behavior, addressing any issues or conflicts that arise in a constructive manner.
- Ensure that students follow school rules and guidelines during recess and lunch.
- Assist students with any needs they may have, including food-related concerns and general inquiries.
- Maintain a clean and organized lunchroom environment, including monitoring trash disposal and cleanliness.
- Communicate effectively with school staff and report any significant incidents or concerns.
- Participate in training and staff meetings as required to enhance skills and knowledge related to student supervision.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; experience working with children preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage positively with students and staff.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations, demonstrating effective conflict resolution skills.
- A commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
- Ability to work flexible hours during school lunch and recess periods.
- First Aid and CPR certification is a plus, but not required.
- A background check may be required prior to employment.
Work Schedule:
- M-F 11:00AM to 1:00 PM (Approximately)
- Can’t work every day? That’s okay! We are also interested in individuals who may only be available on certain days of the week. Flexible schedules can be considered based on availability and building needs.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
- Works in standard school environment and in outdoor weather.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods.
- Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces and navigate outdoor areas in all weather conditions.
- Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations.
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
- See and read printed or digital materials (with or without vision aids); hear and understand speech in a cafeteria and playground setting.
- The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substances (including marijuana) in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.
