Elementary Curriculum Reviewer / Developer

About This Role

This project-based assignment involves reviewing and strengthening the first drafts of a series of Islamic studies books for elementary school children. The role focuses on evaluating the educational quality, age appropriateness, and effectiveness of the curriculum, rather than religious accuracy. It suits an experienced curriculum specialist with a strong understanding of elementary education and curriculum design.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate whether the language, concepts, reading demands, and activities are appropriate for each elementary grade
• Review learning objectives, lesson structure, sequencing, and progression within and across grades
• Assess whether lessons are engaging, culturally appropriate, and connected to children
• Evaluate activities and assessments for clarity, practicality, and their ability to support and check understanding
• Provide detailed written feedback with specific examples, prioritized recommendations, and suggested revisions where needed

Requirements

• Substantial, demonstrable experience developing, reviewing, or substantially revising elementary school textbooks or curricula
• Strong understanding of child development, elementary teaching, and evidence-informed curriculum design
• Experience assessing complete lessons and units, including instructional text, illustrations, activities, and assessments
• Ability to translate critical feedback into clear, practical improvements

Nice to have:

• Elementary classroom teaching experience

Important Details

• Expected hours: 15.0 – 30.0 per week
