ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC

·The primary purpose of this position is to repair, overhaul, rebuild, modify, test, troubleshoot, remove, replace, align, calibrate, inspect and mate avionics integrated electronic and environmental systems.
·Installs, modifies overhauls, maintains, troubleshoots repairs, rebuilds, aligns, and calibrates electronic systems, components, or subassemblies.
·Performs pretest, operational (functional), or final testing of electronic systems, components, or subassemblies.
·Utilizes safety practices/procedures, complies with security regulations, directives, and policies, and maintains a safe and clean work area.
·Uses and maintains tools/test equipment required to accomplish duties. Ensures tools are properly marked, calibrated, and are secured when area is unattended.

                      THE HOURLY RATE FOR THIS POSITION IS $28.00-$32.64.

Qualifications

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):  Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:  

1. Ability to Do the Work of the ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC Position without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen Out Element).
2. Knowledge of electronic theories/practices of one or more complex integrated systems such as fire control, inertial navigation, or automatic landing control systems; of integrated electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, optical, and mechanical systems; of such applications as radar, digital or analog computers, digital display devices, and of the technology and practices which integrate these components into a total functional system; and of mathematics including algebra and basic trigonometric functions to adapt standard function to the specific requirements of the integrated systems.
3. Skill in the use of standard hand/power tools of the electronics trade; skill in the set up and operation of computer controlled automated test equipment (ATE) and test stands, oscilloscopes (dual trace, storage, digitized), spectrum, network and distortion analyzers, frequency counters, and signal generators; in interpreting complex drawings, specifications, and schematics of complete integrated systems to recognize the function and interconnections of components, assemblies, subassemblies, and connecting cable harness; and in troubleshooting, installing, repairing, and maintaining electronic integrated systems where circuit theory must be used to understand the operation of a large number of circuits and functions, and the interaction of subsystems which create malfunctions.
4. Ability to read and interpret a variety of technical data such as schematic diagrams, blueprints and technical orders relating to the electronics trade.
5. Knowledge (comprehensive) of operation, capabilities and limitations of complex electronic systems complicated by a variety of multi component assemblies and devices.
6. Ability to use a variety of electronic, electrical, or electromechanical test and measurement equipment.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.  You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE:  Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).  Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.  You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Physical effort: Involves lifting components and equipment and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Items lifted generally weigh up to 40 pounds and occasionally objects weighing in excess of 40 pounds. Requires a high degree of manual dexterity, eye to hand coordination, prolonged standing, walking, and normal color vision.

Working Conditions: Work is performed inside a shop environment and outside on the aircraft, subject to include weather. Mechanics are subject to injuries such as cuts and bruises and may be subject to danger from experience to hazardous materials, high pressure air, high noise level, electrical shock, RF radiation, and burns from soldering irons
