Electrocardiogram Technician - Cardiorespiratory

About This Role

This night-shift post on the cardiac ward pairs patient care with mentoring new nurses. This role supports the multidisciplinary team and ensures the smooth functioning of diagnostic electrophysiology examinations under the supervision of the Clinical Manager.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrocardiograms in the cardiorespiratory department
• Review electrocardiograms to ensure data quality
• Work jointly with the registered nurse to take vital signs and document medication reconciliation
• Install Holter monitors and download obtained data
• Respond quickly, promptly, and professionally to various critical situations
• Collaborate with the cardiac ultrasound technologist responsible for the cardiorespiratory department in managing the Change Health Care software
• Troubleshoot equipment used for electrocardiograms and Holter monitors
• Sort electrocardiograms by sector and route them via internal mail
• Maintain dialogue with the patient and their family to help them understand the care plan and choose care that meets the patient's individual needs
• Ensure a therapeutic and professional relationship by collaborating with the patient, family, and members of the interprofessional team to plan, implement, and evaluate their care while respecting their needs, values, and beliefs

Requirements

• College diploma in applied cardiology technology, medical electrophysiology techniques, biomedical analysis techniques, or respiratory therapy
• Alternatively, a diploma in a health discipline or in the process of obtaining one is also considered
• Cardio-secours certification, recognized by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada
• Knowledge of MS Office Suite
• Ability to communicate in both official languages (French and English), orally and in writing, at an intermediate level

Nice to have:

• Minimum of one (1) year of recent and relevant clinical experience as an electrocardiogram technician in a hospital setting
