Electrocardiogram Technician

About This Role

Working in a busy cardiology practice, the Electrocardiogram Technician assists with nuclear stress testing procedures. This part-time role involves performing EKGs, preparing patients for stress testing, and monitoring them during tests. The position suits a reliable and patient-focused individual with experience in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform and obtain high-quality resting and stress EKGs
• Prepare patients for nuclear stress testing procedures
• Monitor patients during exercise and pharmacologic stress tests under physician supervision
• Obtain and document vital signs before, during, and after testing
• Ensure accurate patient identification and medical history review
• Recognize and report abnormal cardiac rhythms, symptoms, or test findings to the supervising provider
• Maintain testing equipment and ensure proper infection control protocols
• Assist physicians, nurse practitioners, and nuclear technologists during procedures
• Document procedures accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Provide exceptional patient care and education throughout the testing process

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Completion of an accredited EKG Technician program required
• Current BLS/CPR certification required
• Previous experience in a cardiology office, hospital, or outpatient diagnostic setting required
• Experience with stress testing and cardiac monitoring required
• Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and arrhythmia recognition
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to remain calm and professional in emergency situations

Important Details

• Schedule: Part-time, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM; Wednesdays from 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM; no weekends
• Expected hours: 29.0 per week
