Electrician

About This Role

This electrician position involves planning, installing, and repairing wiring, electrical fixtures, and control equipment within an industrial setting. The role is non-exempt and reports to a Foreman, with duties assigned according to specific procedures and work checked frequently.

Responsibilities

• Plan new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials
• Provide access for future maintenance and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring
• Prepare sketches showing the location of wiring and equipment or follow diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring
• Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit
• Pull wiring through conduit
• Splice wires
• Connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment
• Install control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels
• Connect power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and install grounding leads
• Test continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components
• Observe functioning of installed equipment or system to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement
• Repair faulty equipment or systems
• Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
• Knowledge of electrician's tools and how to use them
• Qualification for working on or above 600V or 69kV industrial high voltage distribution systems
• NCCER certification for A-class Electricians (most job sites require)
• Post offer drug/alcohol screen
• Physical evaluation

• Comply with company and client job site safety requirements
• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace

Important Details
