About the role
Role Overview
The Electrical Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating electrical installation activities for data center design and build projects.
The role will work closely with the Electrical Engineer, Construction Manager, Commissioning Team, subcontractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders to ensure electrical works are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, quality requirements, and applicable standards.
The position will support the project from construction through testing, commissioning, and handover.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Supervise daily electrical installation activities and ensure works are carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, and method statements.
- Coordinate and monitor electrical subcontractors, workers, and site activities.
- Ensure electrical works are completed according to project schedule and required quality standards.
- Review electrical drawings, layouts, single-line diagrams, and technical documents to support site execution.
- Coordinate with engineers and other disciplines to resolve site technical and installation issues.
- Monitor installation of electrical systems including switchboards, transformers, generators, UPS, ATS/STS, busduct, cabling, lighting, small power, earthing, and other related systems.
- Conduct site inspections and ensure workmanship meets project requirements.
- Identify and report installation issues, defects, safety concerns, and potential delays.
- Support electrical testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and energization activities.
- Ensure electrical works comply with HSE requirements, permit-to-work procedures, and safe working practices.
- Coordinate material delivery, equipment installation, and site readiness with relevant teams.
- Maintain daily records, inspection reports, progress updates, and other relevant documentation.
- Participate in site meetings, toolbox meetings, inspections, and coordination meetings.
- Support punch-list closure, testing completion, and final handover of electrical systems.
Education and Skill
- Diploma or Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in electrical construction and site supervision.
- Experience in data center, industrial, commercial, or other large-scale projects is preferred.
- Good knowledge of electrical installation and distribution systems.
- Able to read and understand electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Good understanding of electrical testing, commissioning, and construction practices.
- Knowledge of Malaysian electrical standards, regulations, and HSE requirements.
- Good coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to supervise subcontractors and manage site activities effectively.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and project schedule.
- Willing to work extended hours, shifts, weekends, or public holidays when required by project activities.
