About the role
To execute, supervise, and support testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance validation activities of Electrical systems associated with BTG (Boiler, Turbine & Generator) and Balance of Plant equipment in a large Thermal Power Plant. The incumbent will ensure safe and reliable commissioning, operation, and maintenance of electrical equipment while adhering to quality, safety, and statutory requirements.
BTG Electrical Testing & Commissioning
- Carry out testing and commissioning of Generator, Generator Transformer (GT), Unit Auxiliary Transformer (UAT), Station Transformer, and associated electrical systems.
- Execute pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for HT/LT Switchgear, Motors, MCCs, PCCs, Bus Ducts, UPS, Battery Systems, and DG Sets.
- Conduct inspection, testing, and punch point clearance before system handover.
- Participate in synchronization activities of Generator units and associated auxiliary systems.
- Coordinate with mechanical, C&I, and project teams during testing and commissioning activities.
Electrical Operations & Maintenance
- Troubleshoot electrical failures and implement corrective actions for critical equipment.
- Monitor equipment health and ensure optimum performance and reliability.
- Execute preventive and predictive maintenance of electrical assets.
- Analyze electrical faults, trips, and disturbances and recommend corrective measures.
- Ensure plant availability through timely maintenance interventions.
Testing & Protection Systems
- Perform routine and specialized tests on Transformers, Generators, Switchgears, Motors, and Protection Relays.
- Conduct IR, PI, Winding Resistance, Transformer Ratio, Tan Delta, CT/PT, Primary and Secondary Injection Tests.
- Verify and maintain protection schemes for Generators, Transformers, Feeders, and Motors.
- Review test reports and maintain commissioning records and documentation.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety procedures, LOTO practices, and statutory regulations.
- Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Maintain adherence to plant safety standards and quality systems.
- Ensure compliance with Indian Electricity Rules, CEA guidelines, and applicable industry standards.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare commissioning checklists, test certificates, and progress reports.
- Maintain equipment history, maintenance records, and testing documentation.
- Prepare technical reports for equipment abnormalities and recommendations.
