About This Role

This permanent Economics Teacher role involves teaching Economics across KS5 and Business at KS4 within an independent school in Merton. The position suits a knowledgeable and ambitious teacher who can encourage students to think critically about the world and make complex economic concepts accessible and relevant.

Responsibilities

• Teach Economics across KS5
• Teach Business at KS4
• Make a real impact on students' academic development
• Encourage students to think critically about the world around them
• Teach students how economic principles influence individuals, businesses, and governments
• Help students develop analytical and evaluative skills required for examination success
• Cover areas such as supply and demand, market structures, economic growth, inflation, unemployment, fiscal policy, and international trade
• Encourage students to interpret economic data, apply theories to real-world situations, and consider different perspectives when evaluating economic decisions
• Support students with the advanced demands of A-Level Economics, including extended written responses, quantitative skills, and examination technique
• Contribute to Business teaching at KS4 where required
• Use current examples and engaging discussion to help students understand how economic decisions affect society

Requirements

• Economics Degree or related subject
• QTS or recognised teaching qualification
• Experience teaching Economics at secondary level
• Strong A-Level Economics knowledge
• Ability to teach KS5 Business Studies teaching experience desirable
• Excellent analytical and evaluative skills
• Strong classroom management
• Ability to interpret and explain economic data
• Effective planning and assessment skills
• Commitment to high academic standards
