Responsibilities
- Safely operate non-commercial box truck on over-the-road routes across multiple states
- Plan routes using GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery times and fuel efficiency while complying with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations
- Load and unload freight with proper manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo integrity and safety during transit
- Manage logistics cargo
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and vehicle safety standards
- Maintain accurate documentation for deliveries, including logs of driving hours, load details, and delivery receipts in accordance with DOT regulations
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams to confirm delivery schedules, report issues promptly, and adapt to route changes as needed
Requirements
- Proven experience in box truck driving, especially in over-the-road (OTR) routes involving long-distance travel
- Skilled in GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning and real-time navigation adjustments
- Ability to load and unload freight safely using manual handling techniques; experience with truck loading/unloading is preferred
- Competence in managing logistics cargo handling for freight including dangerous goods or hazardous materials when required
- Experience with automatic transmission trucks; ability to operate box truck confidently under various driving conditions
- Excellent driving skills combined with a focus on safety compliance during all phases of transportation
