About This Role
This part-time, self-employed role involves walking dogs and assisting with pet care, with an opportunity to progress into an employed position as the client base grows. The role is ideal for a dog lover who enjoys being outdoors in all weather conditions and is motivated to help build their own client round.
Responsibilities
- Conduct group walks for a maximum of 4–5 dogs per group
- Perform solo walks for dogs requiring one-to-one attention
- Complete pop-ins for puppies, including toilet breaks, feeding, and enrichment
- Safely collect, transport, and return dogs
- Provide enrichment, engagement, and plenty of sniffing opportunities for dogs
- Keep owners updated on their dog’s adventures
- Get to know both human and canine clients
- Promote Sniff’n’stroll locally through leafleting and client attraction
- Meet potential customers
- Meet and assess dogs for suitability
- Filter enquiries to ensure dogs are suitable for the service/group
- Build great relationships with owners
- Grow a sustainable diary of regular clients
Requirements
- Genuinely loves dogs
- Is confident, calm, and sensible around dogs
- Has access to their own suitable car or van and is happy transporting dogs
- Is not afraid of mud, rain, or occasional chaos
- Is reliable
- Is organised and able to manage their own day
- Is comfortable talking to clients
- Wants to learn more about dog behaviour and training
- Can work independently
- Is motivated to help attract and retain new clients
- Wants to grow with a small business
- Valid DBS check
- Canine first aid certification
- Appropriate driving licence and insurance requirements
