Responsibilities
- Perform grooming services including bathing, brushing, clipping, and styling for various breeds of dogs and cats
- Assess the condition of pets' coats and skin to determine appropriate grooming techniques
- Maintain a clean and safe grooming environment by following hygiene protocols
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their pets
- Grooming needs and any health concerns observed during grooming
- Handle animals safely and humanely, utilizing animal restraint techniques when necessary
- Provide excellent customer service to ensure client satisfaction and repeat business
- Assist with heavy lifting of larger animals as needed during the grooming process
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians or other staff members when necessary for the overall care of the animals
Requirements
- Previous experience in pet grooming is preferred but not required; training may be provided for the right candidate
- Familiarity with animal care practices, including knowledge of different breeds, coat types, and grooming techniques
- Experience in veterinary settings or as a veterinary technician is a plus
- Skills in dog training or equine care can enhance your candidacy
- Strong customer service skills to effectively interact with pet owners and address their needs
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required when handling larger dogs or equipment
- A background in kennel management or animal restraint is beneficial
