Remote CDI Specialist I – Clinical Documentation Integrity
Location: Rochester, MN 55902
Pay: $2,400–$2,600/week
Job Type: Contract | Remote
Schedule: Sunday–Thursday | 40 hours/week
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced CDI Specialist I to review clinical documentation and medical records to ensure accurate representation of patient severity, medical necessity, risk of mortality, and complexity of care.
This is a 100% remote position open to candidates anywhere in the U.S.
Responsibilities:
Perform concurrent and retrospective reviews of inpatient medical records.
Identify documentation gaps and opportunities for improved clinical documentation.
Review diagnoses and comorbidities to ensure documentation accurately reflects the patient's clinical condition.
Apply knowledge of disease processes, pathophysiology, and medications.
Collaborate with physicians, coding, nursing, case management, and other healthcare professionals.
Educate providers and staff on clinical documentation requirements.
Ensure compliance with coding, billing, regulatory, and documentation standards.
Support accurate and complete clinical documentation for appropriate coding and reporting.
Requirements:
2+ years of Inpatient CDI Specialist experience
Recent experience performing concurrent medical record reviews
Must have worked in a production CDI role within the last 12 months
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings/weekends when needed
Education & Certification:
High School Diploma/GED required
Qualifying background as RHIT, RHIA, RN, RRT, CCS, CCS-P, or International/Domestic Medical Degree
CDIP or CCDS certification required
