General Statement of Duties The Division Gifted Coordinator is a full-time, 12-month position assigned to Central Office. This individual supports the Gifted Specialist in developing, leading, implementing, and monitoring gifted programs and services in Henrico County Public Schools. The Coordinator facilitates the application and selection processes for Governor's School programs, and serves as a primary point of contact for students, families, and staff throughout those processes. The Coordinator also supports Henrico staff in delivering differentiated services to gifted students, coordinating the development of challenging curriculum and effective delivery models that respond to individual learning profiles, and strengthening gifted education programming in their schools.
Essential Duties
- Coordinates the high school application processes for the Maggie L. Walker Governor's School for Government and International Studies (MLWGS) and the Summer Residential Governor's Schools including timelines, applicant communication, selection logistics, and reporting.
- Serves as liaison between students, families, schools, and external program partners, ensuring HCPS students receive the support and communication needed to access and succeed in Governor's School and special programs.
- Assists in supporting the Gifted Young Scholars Academy, Gifted Zone Center Programs and Gifted Resource Programming across the division.
- Provides leadership and division support during K-12 gifted screening, identification, and placement, including eligibility committee processes and referral windows.
- Collaborates with the Department of Assessment, Research, and Evaluation to compile, disaggregate, and verify data to establish eligible pools and ensure accuracy in the application processes managed by Gifted Programs.
- Builds, maintains, and analyzes gifted program data sets spanning screening, referral, identification, service delivery, and participation; interprets results to inform eligibility processes, annual program review, and continuous improvement.
- Coaches, co-plans, and co-teaches with gifted resource teachers and content teachers to strengthen advanced academic instruction and differentiation.
- Conducts instructional learning walks and collaborates with administrators to deliver feedback for program and instructional improvement.
- Supports the supervision of gifted resource staff under the direction of the Specialist, including observation, coaching, feedback, and input into performance evaluation; coordinates and supports gifted resource staffing, selection, and onboarding.
- Designs and delivers professional learning on gifted education and advanced academic topics, including recognizing and serving gifted learners from diverse backgrounds and those with exceptional learning needs.
- Collaborates across departments, including Teaching and Learning, Exceptional Education, Specialty Centers, and School Counseling, to support the academic needs and programming for gifted students.
- Develops and delivers information sessions, communications, and resources for families, students, and staff on advanced opportunities; responds to stakeholder questions and concerns in a timely, proactive manner.
- Supports implementation and annual reporting for the division's Local Plan for the Education of the Gifted in alignment with state regulations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Regular attendance is required.
Additional Information: Annual salary will be prorated based upon actual work begin date.

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
- A valid Virginia teaching license is required.
- Gifted Education endorsement is required.
- PreK-12 Administration and Supervision Endorsement is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience providing specialized instructional services to gifted students.
