About the role

Duties

The Winnemucca District Manager is directly accountable to the Nevada State Director for overall program direction, execution, and approval of all activities within the District. Other duties include but are not limited to:

Responsible for development and implementation of a District vision/strategy which integrates key national and State program goals, priorities, and values and political, economic, social, technological and administrative factors.

Responsible for applying the policies and programs of the Department of the Interior in the management of natural and cultural resources BLM managed public land.

Responsible for developing and implementing strategies which maximize employee potential and fostering high ethical standards in meeting the BLM’s vision, mission and goals.

Responsible for establishing and enhancing working relationships and alliances within the District and State office organizational structures as well as with others outside of the District office with the intent of finding common ground and workable solutions with a wide-range of stakeholders and public land users.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience Requirements:

In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - please be sure to include this information in your resume. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade (GS-13) of the position to be filled.

At the GS-14 level: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 in the federal service. Specialized experience at this level is defined as demonstrated examples of experience applying the concepts, principles, and practices of multiple-use land management in directing the use of public lands for the continuing benefit of the public.

There is no substitution of education for experience at the GS-14 grade level.

You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.64. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
