Distribution Center Safety Manager

Leading and implementing safety, health, and environmental programs is the core of this role, fostering a proactive safety culture and ensuring compliance with regulations. This position suits a safety professional who can lead continuous improvement efforts and manage incident investigations within a distribution center setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead and implement safety, health, and environmental (HSE) programs, policies, and procedures
• Foster a proactive safety culture through behavior-based safety initiatives and employee engagement
• Conduct safety assessments, hazard recognition activities, gap analyses, and Gemba walks
• Lead continuous improvement efforts and support safety-related Kaizen events
• Chair Safety Task Force meetings and provide safety leadership across the site
• Monitor safety performance metrics and develop action plans to improve results
• Manage incident and injury investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
• Support and oversee powered industrial truck (forklift) training and certification programs
• Ensure effective pre-shift stretching and warm-up programs
• Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations
• Serve as the primary contact for regulatory agencies and collaborate with corporate HSE and Legal teams
• Lead and manage compliance-related projects from start to completion
• Partner with leadership teams to balance operational success with employee safety

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a safety, environmental, or occupational health role
• Strong knowledge of workplace safety regulations and best practices
• Experience conducting incident investigations and implementing corrective actions
• Ability to lead safety initiatives, training programs, and continuous improvement efforts
• High School Diploma or GED

Nice to have:

• Bachelor's degree
• Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification
• CPR, AED, and First Aid certification
• Experience with DOT compliance and driver safety programs
• Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification or higher
