Role Description The Dispatcher role at MMT Ambulance in Cleveland, OH is an on-site position responsible for coordinating non-emergency and emergency ambulance transportation. The dispatcher receives and prioritizes incoming service requests, gathers critical information, and assigns appropriate units based on urgency, location, and resource availability. This role monitors vehicle status and movement, updates crews with relevant information, and communicates clearly with drivers, clinical staff, and facility partners to support safe and timely patient transport. The dispatcher accurately records trip details in dispatch systems, follows established protocols, and escalates incidents to leadership when needed. The position requires consistent adherence to safety, confidentiality, and regulatory standards while working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Qualifications
- Experience with dispatching, call-taking, or coordinating transportation or logistics in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills for clear, professional interaction with crews, healthcare partners, and internal teams.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and make sound decisions under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Comfort using computers, dispatch software, and digital communication tools; ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Knowledge of basic geography of Cleveland, OH and surrounding areas, with the ability to provide accurate directions.
- Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and high-quality service; previous healthcare or EMS exposure is a plus.
- Ability to work various shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in dispatch, EMS, or public safety is beneficial.
