Dispatcher

About This Role

The Dispatcher directs the day-to-day route operations, reporting to Dispatch Supervisors. This role involves daily communication and interaction with drivers and clients, ensuring safe, cost-effective, and on-time operating performance.

Responsibilities

• Take client calls and communicate issues with drivers and Dispatch Supervisors or Dispatch Managers as appropriate
• Monitor radio, telephones, and on-road provision of service for quality
• Influence positive employee morale and quality customer service
• Monitor and complete driver sign-in and sign-out daily
• Assign trips to drivers to assure adequate disbursement of trips between all assigned routes
• Monitor daily system performance
• Participate in analysis and review of operating performance
• Note closed and/or late starting of routes and communicate same to Dispatch Supervisors and/or Dispatch Managers as appropriate
• Track and report sign-in/sign-out times
• Assure routes are timely
• Communicate service issues to the Dispatch Supervisors or Dispatch Managers as appropriate
• Perform all other duties, as assigned

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Experience with Trapeze software
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain composure under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrate a high customer service commitment
• Able to demonstrate professional phone manner

Nice to have:

• One (1) year previous Dispatcher experience
• Two (2) years of Customer Service experience
• Knowledge of the service area
