Dispatcher

About This Role

This dispatcher role coordinates and schedules transportation and delivery operations for a family-owned air freight and delivery business, ensuring efficient and timely movement of goods. The position suits a skilled and experienced logistics professional with a strong understanding of logistics processes and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule transportation activities, including pickups and deliveries
• Monitor and track the status of shipments, providing real-time updates to customers and stakeholders
• Communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, and customers
• Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) and dispatching software to optimize routes and schedules
• Process and manage all necessary shipping documentation
• Prioritize and manage multiple shipments simultaneously
• Resolve shipment delays, discrepancies, and other logistical issues promptly and professionally
• Provide clear and accurate instructions to drivers and other personnel
• Maintain accurate records of shipments, activities, and locations
• Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations and safety standards
• Generate reports and provide logistical updates as needed
• Follow established protocols and procedures

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience in logistics dispatch or a related field
• Comprehensive knowledge of logistics processes, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• Proficiency in using transportation management systems (TMS) and dispatching software
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Knowledge of relevant geographic areas and routes
• Ability to remain calm and focused during logistical challenges
• Strong attention to detail
• Bilingual abilities are a plus
