Director, Security

About This Role

This leadership role oversees the security operations for a luxury hotel, ensuring the safety and satisfaction of guests and colleagues. It involves managing the security team, developing safety programs, and maintaining compliance with regulations. The position suits a security professional with experience in hotel operations and a commitment to excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Security team to achieve exceptional levels of guest service and colleague satisfaction results, through the application of all Corporate and property standards and policies
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local and Brand regulations, including OSHA requirements and fire and life safety codes
• Consistently develop, coach and support the Safety and Security team ensuring continuous professional growth
• Evaluate, develop and oversee the hotel
• Train and develop Security and Health & Safety Programs throughout the hotel. Oversee and maintain updated knowledge in relevant Security equipment, systems, procedures and trends
• Oversee and administration of Locking Systems and Key Control Programs (Electronic and Manual)
• Evaluate, develop and oversee the hotel
• Liaise with other Hotel Security and Law Enforcement Agencies, building cohesive relationships within the city
• Assist in planning of VIP, Special Events and Dignitary visits as required
• Oversee the use of all security equipment, i.e. radios, cameras, printers, computers and electronic lock systems
• Respond to emergencies and manage the situation
• Oversee annual and monthly department budgeting and expense tracking
• Coordinate team schedules and payroll processing for standard operations and special events
• Investigate all security incidents, complete detailed reports, and manage necessary follow-up actions

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years' previous security management experience in hotel operations
• Luxury hotel experience preferred
• University degree or College diploma in related field preferred
• Extensive experience in Loss Prevention, Life Safety Systems, and Emergency First Aid
• Previous fire training or equivalent experience
• Advanced First Aid and CPR training, certified trainer license preferred
• Previous claims management experience preferred
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication capabilities with a high capacity for active listening
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Knowledge of surveillance equipment
• Knowledge of electronic lock card systems
• Constant standing and walking throughout shift, lifting pushing and pulling up to 50lbs
