The Director of Strategic Communications & Media reports directly to the Senior Director of Business Administration in the School of Computing and Information (SCI), works closely with the Dean and serves as a member of the Dean's Leadership Team. This leadership position provides strategic direction for all marketing, communications, branding, media relations, public affairs, and visibility initiatives that advance SCI’s mission, enrollment growth, partnerships, reputation, and impact.
The Director leads the communications and marketing team, providing strategic direction, talent development, operational oversight, and accountability for results. The position serves as the school's communications and marketing strategist, leading integrated initiatives that elevate SCI's visibility, strengthen its market position, and establish the school as a leader in interdisciplinary, workforce-focused, and future-oriented education.
The Director collaborates extensively with SCI leadership, academic and administrative units, Office of University Communication and Marketing, industry and community partners, media organizations, and external stakeholders to advance university and SCI priorities, and ensure consistent, high-impact messaging. Through visionary leadership, organizational development, and strategic execution, the position drives SCI's long-term growth, enrollment objectives, impact and success.
Job Summary
Leads team and develops, implements, and facilitates communications strategies and outreach. Translates strategic and tactical business plans into procedures that achieve goals, visions, and branding. Creates, administers, and adheres to budget. Oversees communications and ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.

Must be able to communicate effectively, both in print and electronically; ability to use and/or be trained on various software and CRM systems including but not exclusive to Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Canva, HTML, SLACK and Saleforce.
Physical Effort
This position is mainly sedentary. Incumbent will need to lift boxes containing print media pieces; due to deadline constraints the potential for extended periods of typing on computer exists; and standing for extending periods of time for events.
