Director of Operations - Remote

About This Role

Directing the day-to-day operations of a remote agency that builds websites and runs paid and organic programs for US clients is the core of this role. The Director of Operations will oversee sales, recruiting, delivery, and marketing, taking on responsibilities currently handled by the founder. This position is for an "integrator" who can execute the company's vision with existing resources.

Responsibilities

• Oversee four department leads, including their numbers, development, reviews, and performance management
• Manage the weekly meeting rhythm, quarterly priorities, and conflict resolution
• Be accountable for profit, measured on attainment rather than activity, including delivery margin, hiring costs, and business selection
• Handle commercial conversations, including client contracts, vendor terms, and agreements
• Develop strong operators into effective leaders through coaching
• Make decisions that currently await the founder, ensuring timely resolution

Requirements

• Experience with more than one function reporting to you, where you were responsible for their numbers, hiring, and performance management of leaders
• Experience joining a company at one size and contributing to its growth to three or four times bigger (e.g., from 40 to 140 people)
• Personal accountability for a profit number (margin, not revenue or budget)
• Real negotiation experience with contracts and people
• Excellent communication skills, particularly in being clear with department leads and the founder
