Director of Facilities Management

About This Role

Directing facility management is the core of this role, which requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a deep understanding of building science. The director will ensure the facility operates safely and compliantly, while also developing assistant directors and managers.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate strong oral and written communications, problem-solving, leadership, and organizational skills
• Possess building science technical education, knowledge, and experience
• Meet deadlines and work with little or no supervision
• Set schedules, create and maintain budgets, and exercise time management skills
• Work effectively with diverse individuals, from maintenance technicians to senior executives
• Arrange maintenance schedules and projects
• Orchestrate personnel and contractors to complete building repairs and renovations
• Maintain inventory of infrastructure assets, maintenance tools, and supplies utilizing HCA Healthcare technology platforms
• Be well-versed in federal and state regulatory code standards
• Maintain the facility to ensure the highest level of safety and compliance at all times
• Mentor, train, and develop Assistant DFMs and/or Managers as part of HCA Healthcare’s succession planning program
• Work directly with and through the assigned Divisional Director of Facility Management and Regional Director of Engineering
• Strategic planning for facility management to allow the department to reach its goals while supporting the overall mission of HCA Healthcare
• Execute strategic plans, routine maintenance programs, and special initiatives
• Develop the team by instilling trust, delegating responsibilities, and motivating individuals to utilize their knowledge, skills, and abilities to create a successful and engaged team environment
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with others from diverse backgrounds, skillsets, and talents
• Establish and operate within the department budget
• Provide education and training opportunities, team building events, and conduct annual performance evaluations of direct reports
• Have authority to hire/dismiss direct reports
• Manage staff workload; scheduling, and assignment and completion of work orders and preventative maintenance tasks using HCA Healthcare’s CMMS
• Establish work permitting and policy standards for facility staff and vendors to ensure compliance with federal and state work-safety guidelines (i.e. OSHA)
• Create RFPs, review bids, select and evaluate third-party vendors for contracted work
• Operate the facility in an effective and energy-efficient manner
• Execute the corporate-provided plan of succession that includes development and training of Assistant DFM
