Role Description
The Director of Dietary Services is a full-time (Contract), on-site role based in Orillia, ON, responsible for overseeing all aspects of dietary and foodservice operations. This role manages menu planning, nutritional standards, and compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements, ensuring high-quality, client-focused service. The Director provides leadership to dietary and kitchen teams, including staffing, training, scheduling, and performance management. Daily responsibilities include monitoring food quality and presentation, optimizing purchasing and inventory, managing budgets, and driving continuous improvement in service delivery. The Director also collaborates with clients, healthcare and support teams, and corporate leadership to align dietary services with organizational goals and resident or customer needs.
Qualifications
- Strong leadership and team management skills, including experience supervising multidisciplinary foodservice or dietary teams.
- Proven expertise in dietary services, menu planning, and nutrition, preferably within healthcare, senior living, or institutional settings.
- Solid understanding of food safety, public health regulations, and compliance standards relevant to Canadian foodservice operations.
- Experience in budget management, cost control, and procurement within a large-scale or multi-site foodservice environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, staff, and cross-functional partners.
- Post-secondary education in Nutrition, Dietetics, Food and Nutrition Management, Hospitality Management, or a related field; professional designation (e.g., Registered Dietitian) is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze operational performance and implement process improvements to enhance quality and efficiency.
- Proficiency with foodservice management systems and standard office software; familiarity with Compass Group Canada systems is an advantage.
